Blog Candy Challenge Day 4

Hi Everyone! Wow, thank you for playing along with my blog challenges. It's been fun to see your responses. Thank you especially to those who sent a picture of their craft space and calming piece. I know it's difficult to show your desk at its present state but hey, it's better to be real. . .a crafter's space HAS to be messy or cluttered; otherwise, you're not busy creating.

Today's added prize is a stack of K&CO double sided designer paper. I love K&Co. papers because they're almost as thick as cardstock so basically you can use it as a cardbase. Furthermore, the patterns are so pretty. This stack contains 36 double sided designer paper. The cover shows the different patterns of paper. This prize will be added to the prize bucket.

Blog Candy Challenge Day 3

"Tell me something that is peculiar, unique or interesting about you"

I do a very peculiar thing. . .I collect "energy" stones and I place them in areas where I hang out regularly. About 8 years ago, I walked into a gift shop in Hawaii that sold greeting cards, incense, stones, and crystals. It's a store called Sedona. Anyway, they sell a wide variety of loose stones of all sorts. The concept is that stones provide a particular energy that you can harvest when you place the stones in areas near you. Well. . .it's not that I'm superstitious or anything like that. I just thought the stones were pretty but my mood is influenced by the aura or energy around me and hey, it can't hurt to have these stones around me. I want positive energy around me all the time so I now collect these stones for that purpose. Check out pictures of my stones below.

One more thing. . .I have serious buyer's remorse. I'll put a whole bunch of stuff in my basket when I'm in a store and before I check out, I'll put at least 85% back on the shelf. If I actually do buy something, especially something expensive, I'll have days of anxiety and wonder if I REALLY needed it. Sometimes I'll even return it because it stresses me out so badly.

Today's challenge is to tell me something that you feel is peculiar, unique or interesting about you. Comment this post by December 5th 12:00 midnight PST. I can't wait to hear your response.

I have these stones sitting on my nightstand next to my bed. One stone calms your mind and helps reduce mental stress, worries, and anxiety; gain personal insight and wisdom, and stimulates intuitive knowledge and clarity. Another stone is a good luck stone, it also enhances perception and sharpens intelligence, clears mental and emotional blocks and promotes good health and wellness.

I think I've covered all the basis with these stones. I think that is why I wake up happy everyday. Seriously! I really do. I always get out of bed excited about what the day will bring.

Believe it or not but I put these stones in my purse and that's the reason why my purse is so heavy. The white stone represents peace, the brown stone for healing and vitality, and the third stone is for prosperity.

I bought these stones during our trip to Colorado.

I wear this clunky bracelet. They are made out of stones. There are 3 different types. . .one is for calming, the second is vitality, and the last one is for prosperity.

Do you see an ongoing theme here? I need something to calm me when I'm stressed, I need energy when I'm tired and most of all, I want prosperity in my life. . . .:)

Do they work? I would like to believe they do.. .

This is a silicon stone sitting right in front of my computer screen. Silicon amplifies positive feels and reduces feelings of anger; helps clear negative energy, and promotes higher sales if placed near a cash register or cash box. This is a good stone to bring along with you at craft fairs or demonstrator workshops!! LOL!

Besides my OCD and having to have everything in my kind of "order"...lol. Hmmm....this is a tough one as I'm just one strange cookie! I guess it would have to be that I sleep with my Bible open to Psalm 92. I don't neccesarily read it or in any case "believe" in the Bible (please don't cast stones at me...but I believe in His Almighty even though I'm a non-practicing Catholic). I just feel that comfort when I go to bed knowing I have Psalm 92 open right next to my bed. It so contradicts with my potty mouth and taste in music...go figure! Only Gabby! *sigh*

Wow! Another great challenge. I had never heard that about stones before. Interesting.
Okay, I don't know if this is interesting or not, but every day, I start my day in prayer. I tell God about all my concerns I have for the day, I thank Him for His blessings, and I commit my day into His hands. I find my day goes much more smoothly when I trust Him with it than when I try to handle everything on my own!

Interesting about your stones, Maria. I would be interested in having them--must check them out when I am where they are sold.
Something weird about me--I must and I mean MUST shave my legs every night. I can not stand the stubble scratching the sheets when I am sleeping. If I happen to not be able to shave my legs, I do not sleep that night. So, I just plan to shower and shave my legs--I have been doing this for years. I know, I am very strange!!!

Hmmm...how about interesting...?

My daughter and I were featured in FIRST for Women magazine Sept 2002 as a Mom and Daughter who scrapbook together--the magazine had a professional photographer and hair/make up artist come to our home also.

Pretty cool I think, as the odds of it ever happening again are probably extremely slim..

I fall asleep every night in prayer. I often wonder if God falls asleep listening to my prayers - they are obviously so boring, it doesn't keep ME awake! I need that time to wind down my day and thanking God for another day of blessings seems like the perfect way to do that.

Hmmm, this might not be so peculiar, but I cannot sleep at night if I haven't had a chance to read in bed. If dh goes to bed first, he has to leave my light on so I can read when I get up to bed. If I don't read, I toss and turn all night!

I never used to curse-other than an occasions damn. then I watched the first season of the Osbornes and all that frustrations of a catholic upbringing came out. I cuss and curse and am glad I have no kids at home. I do restrian myself around small kids but when I am alone-holy crap!

Hi Maria!
What beautiful paper that is...love the colors and patterns!

One thing I do that might be considered peculiar...
when I am eating something that I really, really like, I rock from side to side. I didn't know I was doing this until it was pointed out to me. Now, I catch myself doing it, and sure enough, it only happens when I am in my food heaven :)

I love to cook and have almost every spice that can be bought---I keep them in alphabetical order and it drives me nuts if someone puts one back in the wrong place. This is the only part of my life that is orderly.

My whole life is organised chaos. I think everyone that meets me would have a different thing to say about me thats quirky. I guess my collection of gorilla's are one thing that is different about me. My pride and joy is a silverback that stands 2 feet high. He weighs an absolute ton. I've been known to talk to them too.lol. I love your stones. I have worry dolls. they have a little bag and you take them out and tell each one a worry or problem or person to pray for. It helps keep me sane.

I collect moose stuff. I love moose T-shirts and I have several pieces of moose decor in my home. I don't like it to be obvious the moment you walk in my door so I have an item or 2 here or there. I have several plastic moose figurines and my husband and I love them so much that we keep them hidden from our daughter. We discovered one of the caribou (a moose cousin) was defective after we bought it so we named it "mashed ass boo" and the name stuck!

Most people cry or have a mid-life crisis when they are turning 40 or 50. I'm 56 and have only been upset with one of my birthdays. That was my 20th birthday. I LOVED my teens & it was really traumatic when I had to put those fun years behind me. I suppose that was pretty bizarre, but I still think those were the best years of my life:)

Hey Maria!
I think your stones are so cool!
I was born dirrerent so just about everything I do is odd to some people. lol
One odd thing about me is that I always flip through a magizne starting at the end of it and I work my way to the front pages. If something catches my eye, I will buy it.
I know this is nothing amazing but it is weird. lol

Aloha Maria, I've always wondered if those stones really worked. Loved going into Sedona, and checking all of them out - such a spiritual soothing atmosphere that store has.

As for my quirkiness.... ok, let me share a few.... when eating a tuna sandwich, I must put potato chips in my sandwich. I can't sleep in complete darkness or complete silence (I will hear how quiet it is, and it'll keep me up all night). There must be at least 1 night light in the house, visible from my bed. I love my steak plain (no A-1 sauce, shoyu or ketchup on it), just steak n' rice will do. I don't like to fly - I go through this whole stage of freaking myself out prior to getting on the plane - NOBODY can talk to me, or bug me, cause I'm trying to "focus" on getting over the feeling. That really sucks. Oh, I was shot with a BB-Gun by my brother (in the chin), and the BB-pellet remained in my chin for 12 years, until my mom found out while reading an essay I did in college about the incident. I still have the essay. OK, that's pretty much it. If you ask my friends - I'm sure they'll say I have more than what I've mentioned.

My mother also carries stones in her purse.

Oddly I do not consider myself to have OCB but I have to have my spices in my cabinet in alphabetical order- weird I know!

I find my most creative masterpieces are created between 2-3 am. I wake up in middle of night and it can't wait until morning.

Hi Maria, you and I have so much in common, I'm a shopper with remorse and so is my sister. We spent 4 hours in a huge thrift kind of store--everything was brand new and only sorted by sex and age group. After sorting through everything and filling our carts, we walked up to the cashier, waited and in and then had buyers remorse, just like you. I looked at Cathie and said, "you know, I really don't need this stuff. Shall I just put it back? The thrill is in the hunt." Surprising to me, she said, "me too" so we left our carts and went on our merrily way. We both left discussing our need for spending only to leave things. Those stones you have sound cool. One last thing, that paper you threw in--gorgeous.

It's interesting to read all the posts & see what sets us all apart as being unique. Me, I have a real thing about TOYS. I love toys! Especially toys from my childhood that I never got. So now when I'm out junquing (I also collect antique children's books & other eye-catching antiques)I always have to keep my eyes peeled for toys.

I love the blog candy especially the paper. Decorated paper is awesome. This has been very interesting learning information about other stampers out there and how we are all alot alike.

My streange thing is when I am eating I cannot eat more then one thing at a time. If we are eating meat, potato, veggie. I eat all teh potato before I can eat the meat, the meat is eaten completely before I can eat the veggie. I do not know why, but I cannot mix the flavors even though it all ends up in the same place.
have a wonderful day I hope you are feeling better! Missa

I thought it was just me I shop online and put tons of stuff in my basket and then just decide "do I really need that?", and log out. But it is so much fun window shopping. Oh and I haven't mailed my Christmas Cards out yet :-(

Here's something unique about me. I've been married to my husband for 25 years and I've never lied to him - ever. I will lie to other people occasionally, like my boss or someone (and I'm actually a very GOOD liar when I make up my mind to lie), but I will never lie to my husband. I just think that marriage requires honestly.

So when he asks how much I spent on stamps, I tell him, to the penny. Then I remind him of how much he spends on his hobbies and he shuts up pretty fast!

one unique thing about me is that i have a huge crater in my head. i was a very tiny baby, so that doctor had to take me out with forceps, and he squeezed too hard on one side, so now there is a big dip on that wide. it's not visible, since i have long hair, but it's huge when you touch it!

i love the paper! so gorgeous. thanks for including it in the drawing. :)

Here are the two weirdest things about me that I can think of:
1) Can't sleep if my feet are covered. Even in the middle of the cold night, my bare feet are sticking out.
2) I am a Pisces and so afraid of the water.

It's a good thing you didn't ask my family this question--who knows how many they would come up with! darlene

Love the stones!! And the bracelets too!! This is a tough one. They only thing I can think of right now? Cause it just happens to be in my brain as I sit here? I have been a hugh peanut butter lover all my life...hugh! I could go for months and months with having toast and peanut butter every single day for breakfast...until my oldest daughter was diagnosed with a peanut allergy! I have been without peanut butter for a few years now!! Yesterday I was not feeling well and kept thinking I need some crackers and peanut butter!! Can't get it out of my head!! ;0)

Oh these are very interesting to read. It shows you how unique each of us are. Let's see about me...
1. I have to put sweet-n-low in my chili...that is how my dad eats it (it's all his fault LOL)
2. I have a difficult time falling asleep until I get into my sleeping position. This is sort of on my side facing to the left, with left leg bent at knee and my left hand on my forhead resting on the pillow. I know it sounds weird, but if I just start in this position, I usually fall right to sleep. Go figure...must be a prenatal thing!
3.I think I am a little bit psychic. Just hear and there I can just blurt out random answers without thinking about them, and I am usually right. My DH always asks why I don't play the lottery then.

Thanks, this was fun!

Okay..hmmm ..peculiar..Seems like most of my peculiarities are all taken up. I will add though that right now I sleep with socks on (clean of course)..I have to get up and take puppy to the bathroom outside and in the early morning..there is not much time..especially to put on socks...Also I love balongna sandwiches...but it can only be a certain kind of balongna.
I am with you on the buyers remorse....100%.Should I say, "great minds" think alike or, "great spenders"...lol.

HHmm its hard to think of one since I have so many! LOL!

Last winter I painted an ornament for the Library of Congress Christmas Tree in Washington DC. My ornament represents the state of Idaho. A fellow artist put the project together and there are ornaments from every state, You can see a picture on my blog.
They'll be using the ornaments for about 10 years :)

I love the stones! Very cool!

One thing? Hhmmm . . . well, I love ottamans. When I'm relaxing, my legs have to be on an ottaman, AND, I cross my ankles, my right ankle on top of my left, and I rub my feet together. I wouldn't even notice this about myself, but my husband notices and mentions it all the time. He can hear the rubbing sound!

Oh yeah, one more thing, I can't stand to walk on wet tile or floors in bare feet, I HAVE TO have flip flops on. The wet on my feet just grosses me out!

Wow!! I just realized whn I posted on day 5 that you are an hour behind me! I will just squeak in under the time limit!! Yay!!

Unusual or peculiar about me? Without meaning to brag, because it is not of myself, it is a gift straight from God - I am very forgiving. Almost to a fault. For instance, if one of my preschooolers misbehaves right before recess and I tell them they will have to exchange their play time for my time which they just wasted, by sitting down at recess - by the time we get outside, I have forgotten!!! They will go outside and sit right down and I will turn to them and ask why they are sitting down and they will tell me, "Because you told me to." I used to think it was my poor memory, but my dh and close friends have helped me to see that it is because I forgive and forget so easily and quickly.
