Blog Candy Challenge Day 3

Good Morning folks! Remember you have until December 5th to play all the challenges! Today's prize addition is Stampin Up's last year "In Colors"! Remember cool Caribbean and cranberry crisp? Yup! Some die-hard Stampin' Up fans will pay double to triple the amount of the cost of these puppies. Why? Because it retired and once it's used up, it's gone forever. Hopefully, if Stampin Up will be smart about it and retire some of the current colors and add last year's "In Colors". In the meantime, it can be yours. I bought a bunch of packs before they retired and I am willing to part with one of them. It was hard but I thought it would be a great addition to the prize bucket.

Day 3 Blog Candy Challenge

"What is your pet peeve in regards to reading other people's blog sites?"

My pet peeve is small pictures. I don't like small pictures because I don't like to click on the image to make it larger just so I can see what it is. It's just an extra step that I don't have the time to do. I usually move on to the next blog site if the pictures are too small . It can be the most beautiful card you've ever made but if it's small I won't bother looking at it. Sorry!

Okay. . .today's challenge is to comment on what bugs you about another person's blog site. You have until December 5th 12:00 PST to play this challenge. Be honest with your comment. . .:)

There isn't much I don't like. I guess if I had to say something,I guess I dont' like it when people dont' keep up to date with their blogs. If they are gone for extended period of time, let us know.I go thru the list of blogs I frequent and then by the time it gets loaded, it isn't anything new to see. I love your blogs!! Always something on it ...and there are 2!!

Hmmm, oh ~ when there no directions or link to a tutorial for how to do something!

This is easy...music!

Oh, I hate to bash other people's blogs - I feel mean! (That being said!) I guess what bothers me is when they have lots of "blog extras" in the margins so the page takes forever to load. A few little things is nice, but when you have music, downloads, ads, and all kinds of things that need to load, it takes too long.

I guess my only pet peeve is when all of a sudden some loud obnoxious music starts pounding and scares the willies out of me:)

I read so many and usually in a Reader (which has been giving me fits maybe because there is so many in it) so I dont usually think anything is bad about them, but as much as I try to stay on topic for my own, I stray sometimes. So sometimes I wish others would do what I did--have another blog or two for personal or religious stuff or work stuff. I am trying to put all my crafty blogs in one file but I get so distracted by the links in blogs, that I forget what I am supposed to be doing in the first place. And one other thing--bloggers who think they were being bad because they didnt blog. NO NO NO. Do it because you want to not because you have to. You are not obligated to entertain me. I have two crazy dogs and a sofa slug for that. Be happy with your blogging people or dont do it.

The only pet peeve I have is occassionally people have so much on their blog that it takes forever to load. If that happens more than once, I usually never go back to the blog again.

I would say music. I don't mind clicking and listening while I look but sometimes if it starts suddenly I does make me jump.

Christine said...

Honestly I like music on the blogs. Makes me feel like I get to know the person better since you can tell so much about someone through what htye like to listen to. I, however, can not stand those word verifications on the comments section. They are always in such weird fonts and you end up having to type them 3 times before you can post the comment, ugh.

Tracy.H said...

This is a tough one. Nothing really bugs me...although sometimes the word verification is annoying. And quite honestly if a post is way too long...I might not read it...sorry, but true.

Swamp Tulip said...

I don't like to take the time to enter the codes when I'm leaving a comment. Sometimes that takes forever! I'm also not fond of music when I'm blog surfing.

I think my biggest pet peeve is when I click on someone's blog and after it loads, the music suddenly blares out. I can't count how many times that has made me jump! Plus, our computer is in our bedroom and I will be on the computer at night when my husband is sleeping. If I go to a site where there is music, that can wake him up and I have to rush to turn the speakers off.

CreativeMish said...

I agree with you on the picture size! I don't like clicking on alot of stuff when reading so a good sized pictures is great!

Cathy M said...

I hate....
When it takes forever for a site to load.
When there is tiny pictures, cuz I can't see them.
When there is the info is in a really light color, cuz I can't see them and have to highlight it to read.
Ok that should be enough. I hate to be negative, since I'm a blog surfer. Everyone out there that has a blog takes a lot of time to share there creations and I truly appreciate it. Thanks for a chance.

Unknown said...

This was very informative for a new blogger like me! I think that the most annoying thing is little font and few photos with lots of writing. It is nice when the text is broken up by something easy to read!

Deb said...

Mostly I love other people's blogs, anything goes but I have to agree with the majority here, I really don't like listening to other people's music, if I wanted to listen to music I would choose my own and like some of the lovely people above, they sometimes make me jump!

Diane said...

I would have to say loading up when it takes forever!!!

Rita said...

What bugs the heck out of me is when I get to someone's site & the MUSIC is so LOUD it scars the heck out of me! I'll go on to the next blog. If I want music I can play my own. Sorry people!

Cheryl said...

I use Google reader and I am not sure whose fault it is (it may even be the way I have my reader set up) but I am peeved when I have to click to the main blog to read the entire posting because the entire thing doesn't show up in the reader.
I like music on the blogs as it is neat to hear what others like.
Love your blogs, Maria.

I would have to say that when I post a comment, I would prefer to just hit the "leave comment key" rather than type in letters that I can barely read.

Colored fonts that blend into the background and make it soo hard to read! Turns me away without a second look.
Also not a fan of music. I usually turn the volume off on my laptop when I am reading blogs so I don't get that ((JOLT)) of blaring music.

Márcia Mattos said...

Hi Jen

As you, I don't like tiny pictures
Also I hate to write those letters while posting a comment.
And I hate reading long posts....and black backgroung in the blogs

Hugs and thanks

I have two pet peeves- music, (I have nothing against music, I listen to the radio all the time, but I hate having it start suddenly and loudly) and having to type in a code in order to comment. One blog made me go through five codes before I could comment!

Anonymous said...

My only complaint is a slow loading blog. I had a hard time thinking of anything negative, because I normally love every blog for different reasons.

Oh I just love reading blogs...or...well...browsing blogs might be a better description. I LOVE the pictures...but if the blog is really long, I generally don't read it.

Anonymous said...

Super long posts especially where there are a load of tiny pics. Keep it short and maybe create a link if there are a lot of pics like in gallery or folder. Though I love perusing blogs...so m any interesting things to see and read. Mykids come running when I pull up GeekDad's blog..to see what he has to show next. Its a quite fascinating blog.

MissaTooU said...

I would have to say when it takes a long time for a page to load. I get impatient. All though most of the time it takes a long time for good quality pictures of their work to load, so I don't know, depends on my mood I guess.
I love to see other peoples ideas and creativity, we are all artist in our own way and showing smaller pictures larger pictures, playing music or cluttering their side bars are all just part of their art work and that is how one shows who they are and how they create.

Some people cannnot think when music is playing and one cannot work in a clean and organized environment. It is what seperates us from each other.

So I guess I really don't have a pet peeve in regards to other people's blogs.
Thank you I mean no disrespect

Missa

My pet peeve is those stupid letter verifications. Some of them I just can't read because they have marbleing or something and it takes me forever to leave a comment. sometimes I just give up

MelissaS said...

I don't like when the music blares out at you! Also, if a person doesn't post very often (once a week should be minimum to keep me coming back). Thanks for sharing!

I dont like when the music starts automatic, because sometimes you reading at night, or you just dont want music, annoys me. another thing is to right comment codes after we post, sometimes we put more than3 times and they say we wrote wrong, a mess !

Pegg S said...

I would prefer seeing full feeds from my Google Reader. I think that a bright, clear, big picture of whatever work you are displaying is the best way to show off your work! I also like honest opinions and people who seem like they are selling selling selling turns me off.

Debra said...

Leaving comments . . that's my biggest one . . I can never seem to get it posted and enter the right password . .

clumsy navigation!!! That's my pet peeve!!
I hate it when I can't get around a site easily, it's very frustrating!!

Deborah March said...

My peeve: music that starts as soon as I open the blog. I enjoy choosing my own music, and I also LOVE silence and solitude when I'm blurfing.

Pat S. said...

Hi Maria!
Thank you for offering such WOW blog candy!

My pet peeve is finding a picture of a gorgeous card, but no information about recipe or technique. I love reading blogs to learn more about the hobby. If I want just pictures, I go to the SCS gallery :)

Ila said...

My main peeve is it taking forever for the page to load up. I'd like to comment sometimes but it just takes so long ..I gotta go.
I also like the pics to be large ...I hate having to enlarge it.

AdriansCrazyLife said...

I like blogs that have a lot of fun and personality. Jen's Pieces of Me is a great example. She has fun contests, Hawaiian words of the day, pictures of her kids and all kinds of fun stuff. I probably do a bit too much of that on my blog, which is why I didn't set mine up as a specifically a stamping blog, but I really enjoy those little glimpses of the rest of the world besides stamping.

I have to admit that my peeve is when you enter a blog and seem to take forever to find your way round. More labelling and easier routes please so we can find what we want when we want without having to search for ages.

I read many blogs and I have to agree with you the small partial pictures that you have to blow up to see are annoying. I also, don't like when tons of extras are on page like music only because it does load MUCH slower.

Looks like I have the same two complaints as all the others: music and word verification.

This is easy for me...music!!! My dear hubby often goes to bed before I do. ah ha!!! Gives me time to check out some card blogs. So imagine this...it's so quiet...you could hear a pin drop...then all of a sudden out of nowhere comes this loud obtrusive music and dear hubby jumps up "what was THAT??" and I'm fumbling around trying to hit "stop" but often, the "stop" button doesn't stop it, so I have to "X" out of the whole site, flustered and upset that I woke him. see..told ya it was easy! lol

I am with you with small photos... ans sometimes the music... I love music but sometimes I have my own music going on the computer... :o) Other than that, I am OK with whatever... if someone wants to write a lot go ahead... if someone doesn't want to write, just showcase the photo... that's fine too... hobby bloggers should do whatever feels comfortable... I know I am a bit over the edge about it... feel like I have to keep up otherwise noone will come and visit my blog... Have a wonderful day!

doverdi said...

I guess I'd have to agree with you on the small pictures that can't be viewed. I also don't like clicking on a blog only to have the *you know what* scared out of me when the music starts blaring. But then again I do appreciate all that the bloggers to to inspire me & share their talent & creativity.

Anonymous said...

The only problem I have is I want to click on everything and then I get lost.

Jules said...

My goodness...I guess I will take off my word verification on my comments, and I am glad I don't have music! Haha. This was an interesting challenge Maria, thanks for thinking this one up.

I don't seem to have many pet peeves when it comes to blogs, I like a lot of different blogs...so I guess the only thing would be is I like a lot of pictures, even a mixture of personal stuff here and there. You get to know the creator of the blog better.

Hi,

My pet peeve on someones blog is when other bloggers don't read what the previous bloggers have written...and comment with the same thing...oooohhh this is so irritating.

Heather said...

My pet peeve is people who don't set their blog so that the whole post can be viewed in a blog reader. I hate having to do the extra step to click and open the post in a different window. And like you- if I am time crunched- I skip it!

Angel said...

Wow.... very informative reading here! I read LOTS of blogs (when I have the time SO, I like a post to be an easy read. Not LONG and drawn out. Word verification can sometimes be the pits but I understand the necessity. Great Question, Maria!

Mara G said...

I guess the thing that bugs me as people have said already, is the music that plays over and over the same song.
It scares me sometimes.

CreativeJeaux said...

Colored backgrounds and colored text on top of that- like a black background and then yellow letters- gives me a headache!

Gabby said...

I personally don't have anything bad to say about people with music players. If I go to a blog and music all the sudden pops up (which in no way has ANY music EVER made me jump....my parents let me cry alot when I was a baby to get use to my own loud cry...LOL), I go to their player to stop it or turn down my speaker volume. PLUS, I don't have my speakers on high volume either so I control what level I like to listen to. I know many people hate that, but oh well....I express my art and my music so my readers can know ME without having to tell stories everytime I post a card (trust me, I know a blogger who ALWAYS has to tell story when she adds a card and one that has NOTHING to do with the card)! Now...on to what I don't like or what "IRK'S" me....TOO MANY ENTRIES!!!! (Plus what I just mentioned above)It takes forever to load. I've been to blogs that have up to 20+ entires on ONE PAGE! Now that annoys me....even now with my high speed, so you can just imagine when I had dial-up 2 weeks ago! Geez!

Anonymous said...

My pet peeve is all the "same stuff" you find on some of the very popular blogs -- like the elf name generator, tagging the same people over and over. I do not care for fluff. Some blogs are also becoming just a series of commercials too. I look at blogs for inspiration, ideas and learning new techniques etc. Darlene L

The word verification - that takes another step for me to comment. Sometimes I so used to just pressing the tab button after I type my comment and send - but if there is word verification... ugh, I have to stop and type in that code - this slows me down in going to other blogs and commenting.

Lilian said...

i like most everything about everyone's blog, but sometimes if the blog has too many blinging, blinking, moving emoticons or moving backgrounds, it gets kind of confusing and too busy.

thanks for offering the in colors! i LOVE last year's colors, especially cool carrib!

I don't have any blog pet peeves as nothing comes to mind. I guess I feel that every persons blog is a look at them so the way they have it set up etc tells a lot about their personality etc.

I once read a post from a woman who was bitterly complaining about her overweight mother-in-law and the negativity was just awful. I don't mind reading about problems, but this lady was on a very ugly rant. Another time a writer was admonishing readers for not leaving posts. I think we bloggers should always be polite. :)

Janet said...

I had to really think about this one. There isn't too much that bothers me. I guess the one thing that gets to me is when the blogger posts something totally unrelated to their blog theme. If I sign up for a card or stamping themed blog I don't really want to read about other topics that are totally unrelated. I will just stop reading and delete it.

Trina said...

I absolutely hate word verification!!! When I have to do it, sometimes I don't even bother and just close the window, cause I've got better things to do!!

Brenda H. said...

I'm with you on the small pics...although I did mention that once on someone's blog, and she immediately fixed it! Some of us on the planet still do actually have slow speed dial-up, so I find it really annoying when it takes forevah to load!

What I really hate about a blog is...
That they put their items up on their blog and show off their cards and creations and then leave you hanging. I hate when they don't share how they made it or where you can locate the items that they used for their creations. I wonder if they just love teasing us out here in doing this and love the flattery they get from people viewing and posting "how nice the work is and etc." This is why I love your blog Maria, you are so sweet to share your Wonderful work and plus explain and show us all as to how to do this technique and that technique and the products. I live in a rural area and don't have a stamp store to run to and take classes to learn new techniques and see the products. Your blog is inspirational. Ü
Just my .02¢ worth.
