Altered Heart/Round Box Video and Written Tutorial

Hi Everyone!! I created a video tutorial on how to line a round or heart box using designer paper. There's a way to apply designer paper to round boxes so that they appear smooth with a nice finish. I also created a written tutorial of this project. I had created the written tutorial over a year ago. There is a slight variation to the video tutorial vs written tutorial but the same concepts apply.

I created this box for mementos and photos that I'll probably place on to my night stand. It makes for a nice bedroom decor while being functional at the same time. I covered my box using Close to My Heart designer paper "More to Adore". It's such a pretty paper especially for Valentines. To decorate the top, I added large prima flower, button, and a metal frame by Making Memories with a photo.

I don't have time to chit-chat but check out the video or written tutorial when you have the chance. It's pretty late right now and I'd like to go to bed. Hope you all have a fabulous day!!

CD Calendar Case Video Tutorial

Hi Everyone!! I created this CD case calendar today. It was super duper quick. I've been trying to find ways to use up my scrap designer papers and I thought this was a fabulous way to use up some of them.

The tutorial below is a tutorial I created for my Stampin Inspirations Club Site using Stampin Up materials but I wanted to create a scrappy one too. This version is a little different from the one in the video tutorial. Rather than putting all 12 months together on one panel, I separated each month and created a different panel for each month.

This is January's page. I primarily used Prima flowers to decorate it. I think I finished this page within 10 minutes. Gotta love it when it's quick.

Project Details:

Papers: Fiskar Cloud 9 designer paper, CTMH cardstock
Accessories: Making Memories daisy brads, Prima flowers, SU Photo Corner Punch

With February, all I did was run my Sizzix die and created the hearts, stuck it on to the designer paper and added the photo corner to top left. That's it. . .again less than 10 minutes. I'm working on March right now. I can't find my "spring" stack of designer papers so I didn't work on it.

Anyway. . .try out the tutorial. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

Project Detail:

Papers: DCWV designer paper, cardboard panel backing from a scrapbook kit (hearts)
Accessories: Sizzix die, JoAnn brads, SU Photo Corner Punch

Altered Nestle Cocoa Box - Tutorial

Hi Everyone!! I'm back from a great trip to Disneyland and having my family from Hawaii visiting for the holidays! They were staying over at our house and they left today. We had so much fun celebrating the holidays at Disneyland. . .it was nice to have my family here with us because I haven't seen them for 3 years and having them over for the holidays was such a great ending of 2008 and the start of the New Year. Now, that they left. . .well, it's back to the business of creating and blogging!

To start off the new year, I created this box to store my clear stamps using a Nestle Cocoa Box as my template. I created a short tutorial on how I made this box. It's really easy so check it out!

Materials

Used box
Scissors
Liquid glue, Mod Podge or tacky tape
Designer paper large enough to cover the box
Computer paper (if you want to trace the box so you can use the template for future use)
Pencil
Open up the box up so that it can lay flat
If the box is big, cut the box at one of the creases so that it can fit on to a computer paper
You will end up with 2 or more pieces depending on the size of your box.
Assembly of the template will be 2 pieces rather than one piece

Trace the box on to computer paper using a pencil and cut on the score line to create your template. Again, if the box is big then you may end up with 2 or more pieces.

If you don't care to trace the box to create a template, apply glue directly on to the box and adhere to a designer paper.

Wait for the glue to dry and cut the designer paper along the edge of the box and re-assemble the box together using the creases as you guide.

If you have two pieces or more, apply glue on to the designer paper where needed to adhere the box together into one piece.

Decorate your box as desired.
With this box, I had cut out the top flaps to provide an opening at the top. This allowed me to store my clear stamps at an upright position.
If you are interested in the template, I created a template of this box:

Scor-Pal Christmas Magazine - CD Holder/Mini Album

Hi Everyone!! Gosh, I haven't posted on this blog for a while now. I've been so busy with life and I've only had time to post on my Stampin Inspirations blog site. I hope after the holidays, I'll find more time to create "scrappy" projects. This site has no "rubber stamping" cards and projects and it's primarily where I post scrapbook projects, scrappy cards, and other non-stamping related projects.

In the mean time, I just wanted to share this project that I had initially created for my Stampin Inspirations Club site but had submitted for the Scor-pal Christmas Magazine Be sure to stop by and check out the fun projects that you can create with the Scor-pal. You can find the tutorial of this CD Holder/Mini Album at Scor-pal's website: Click Here. It's a really easy and fun project that you can create as a gift for friends and family, not only for Christmas, but through out the year. I think it's great to give to family especially if you want to share photos of your new baby. It's a great party favor as well. . .that is, I think so. . .:) To learn more about Scor-pal, click on the button below:

This is the case opened up and it's a mini album/CD case. It's a fun way to share your photos with family.

The cardstock, papers, and embellishments for this project are all from the "I Wish - Simply Scrappin' Kit' . This kit comes with everything you need to create several scrapbook pages, mini albums, and cards. I really love the design of the designer paper in this kit. The size of the CD case is 5 x 5".

I decided to keep the design simple because I wanted to finish this project quickly. You can create this project in an hour because all the stickers are already cut out and ready to stick on your project.

The color combo for this project is "Real Red", "Old Olive" and "Chocolate Chip". Such a pretty color combo.

The picture to the left is of me and my husband.

As you can see, there are a lot of pages to add lots of pictures.

Anyway, if you decide to try out this project, let me know what you think!! Hope you like it!!

Project Details:

Stamp set: Snow Swirl, A Holly, Jolly Christmas
Papers: I Wish Simply Scrappin Kit, Textured Real Red, Old Olive cardstock from the kit.
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive
Accessories: Designer button, Alpine, CD, CD label, Scallop Edge Punch

Adding Color to Clear Glitter Tutorial

Hi Everyone!! Want to find a way to save money? Dye your clear glitter with ink refills. By dying your clear glitters, you can have many different colors of glitter without having to buy a whole bunch of different colored glitters which can get pretty expensive. Click on the tutorial on how create different colored glitters.

I don't know what is up with me but lately I've been creating a lot of "green and pink" cards. I seem to gravitate towards this color combo and it's not like it's even my favorite. I think it's because I have a lot of designer papers with green and pink colors.

Anyway. . .just a quick post. . .nothing much to this card except for the dyed glitter on my card.

Here's a close up of the pink glitter that I colored myself with the ink refill. Check out the tutorial and try it out!!

Card Details:

Paper: DCWV designer paper, SU Pretty In Pink, Green Galore
Accessories: JoAnn Daisy rhinestone, Clear glitter dyed with SU Pixie Pink ink refill, Basic, Basic ribbon, Heidi Swapp circle chipboard, Stemma sentiment sticker, Prima flower, Fiskar Cloud Scissors

Double Pocket Card with Tags Tutorial

Hi Everyone! I created this tutorial in the attempt to use up my scrap designer paper. I'm trying to come up with creative ways to use up paper. I get bored doing the same things so I'm trying to brainstorm and come up with different projects.

Anyway, I posted another sample on Stampin Inspirations if you want to check it out. This is a super easy double pocket card design. . .no fancy folds or anything like that. It's not even a real creative way of creating the pockets but hey, it works! LOL! I guess that's all that matters. Besides, I don't like complicated projects. Try it out and you'll see how easy it is to create it.

Here are the tags removed from the pockets.

Card Details:

Papers: DCWV Glitter stack
Accessories: Prima flower, Joann Heart brad, satin ribbon, K&Co Tags to go, K&Co Shapes & Tags

Here is another double pocket card but with a different design. I did a mini tutorial on my previous post if you want to try it out. Just scroll down. Again, just me finding creative ways to use my scrap designer paper. With this pocket card, the pockets are horizontal.
Here are the tags removed from the pockets.

Card Details:

Paper: Colorbok designer paper, striped paper (don't know), cardstock (don't know)
Accessories: K&Co Tags to go, K&Co Shapes and Tags, Prima flowers, Basic Basic ribbon

Double Pocket Card Using Scrap Designer Paper Mini Tutorial

Hi Everyone! Wow, I spent 2 days cleaning my craft room and I've come to the conclusion that I'm crazy! I have so much stuff that it's scary. I have a bad habit of buying stuff in "bulk" because it's cheaper to buy things in value packs. Unfortunately, buying things in bulk results in excess. I've made the decision to avoid buying in bulk or value packs. From now on, if I see something I like that is on sale, I'll buy only one of that item, not 5! LOL!

Anyway, my craft room, despite 2 days of cleaning, really don't look nice and neat. It's a bit disappointing. I envy those craft rooms that I see on other people's blogs that look soooooooooo CLEAN. . .you know, with all those pretty jars and containers all neatly placed on the shelves. I probably could achieve that nice and neat look but that would mean I would have to get rid of 75% of my stuff! LOL! Instead my shelves look like I stuffed as much stuff that I could. . .oh, well.

I made this double pocket card this morning. Again, using scrap designer pieces. This double pocket card is a great way to rid of those smaller pieces of designer paper.

***********************************************

Here is a quick instruction on how I created this pocket card:

Materials:

(3) 3 x 4" two or three different designer papers
(1) 4 x 5.25" cardstock (matting)
(1) 4.25 x 5.5" card base
(1) 2.5 x 5" tag (back tag)
(1) 2.5 x 3.5" tag (front tag)
Glue or double stick tape

1. Adhere the first 3x4" designer paper at the top edge of the 4 x 5.25" cardstock (matting)

2. Apply adhesive to the 1/4" left and right edge of the second 3x4" designer paper. Adhere it over the first designer paper starting 1" down from the top. This will create the first top pocket.

3. Apply adhesive to the 1/4" on 3 edges of the third designer paper (left, right and bottom edge). Adhere to the bottom half of the 4x5.25" cardstock (matting) and over the second designer paper. When adhering to the matting, be sure the adhesive end is attached to the mat leaving the non-adhered end layered over the second designer paper. This will create the second slot or pocket.

4. Create your tags as desired.

***********************************************
I'm sorry there's no photos. I didn't start off creating a tutorial but I figured you may want to know how I created the pockets with scrap designer papers.

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Box Pocket With Funky Fold Card Tutorial

Hi Everybody! I posted this "Box Pocket with Funky Fold Card" tutorial on both this blog site and Stampin Inspirations. Nooo, you're not seeing double. It's just that I created a "rubber stamped" version as well as a "scrappy" version so I decided to post it on both sites.

I know not everyone who visits this site, visits my other blog site but I create different stuff for each site and sometimes I usually don't post the same tutorials on both sites. It's usually different so be sure to drop by Stampin Inspirations when you have the time.

Why don't I just combine both sites, you ask. . .well, I like to keep the "scrappy" stuff separate from the "rubber stamped" stuff. Besides, it pushes me to do both otherwise, I would probably just make "rubber stamped" projects and I really would like to be open to doing both.

Anyway, this funky fold card is inserted into the box pocket as you can see above. The flaps are held down with the ribbon.

If you follow the tutorial, I linked template of the funky fold so be sure to check out the tutorial. It's really quite easy to make and quite fun!

I created the box pocket template myself because I wanted to create a pocket that would hold my funky fold card. It's not necessary to have a pocket for it but I thought it was just fun to put it in a pocket.

This is the funky fold opened up. I kept the inside simple to leave room for a nice message or note. I'm sure you could do something more creative than the ones I created. Anyway. . .try out the tutorial and tell me what you think!
Until later!!

Daily Special - Tutorial Day - Anything But Cards - Shadow Box Frame

Hey Everyone! It's great to be back. Don't forget to scroll down to the previous post to view pictures from my trip to San Francisco. Today's Daily Special is "Tutorial Day" and today's project is a "Shadow Box Frame".

I had bought a shadow box kit at JoAnns and only bought one. I wanted to make more of them but didn't want to spend the money to create the box so I decided to use a cardboard from a packing box. The original kit came with an already pre-made shadow box made out of heavy chipboard. Can you tell from the shadow boxes pictured which one is the box that was made from the kit and which one from the cardboard? I made these shadow boxes before I left for my trip but did not have a chance to finish off the tutorial.

Quite honestly, once covered with the designer paper, it doesn't matter what material is used, whether it's chipboard or cardboard. Anyway, I had a total blast making these shadow boxes. I need to make one for our cat China and our dog Dakota. I also created a shadow box on my Stampin Inspirations blog site using Stampin Up products. Be sure to check it out.

Anyway, be sure to check out the tutorial and tell me what you think. Send me a picture via email or comment on this post if you decide to create this project. I really would like to see your version of this project.

Daily Special - Mini Accordion Album II

Goood Evening Everyone. Here is another mini accordion album that I created. Check out my previous post to see the other one that I made as well as my "Stampin Inspirations" blog site. I made one for that blog site using "Stampin Up" products.
What's great about this album is that it's cute but also very quick and easy to make. You can actually make this album in 30 minutes to an hour depending on how simple you create the design of your album. I wanted to keep the design of the pages consistent so it has a "theme" to it. I also wanted to keep the design simple so not to take away from the pictures which is supposed to be the focal point of an album. Again, I used primarily "scrap" designer paper and cardstocks to help reduce my scrap pile.

I didn't have enough of the 2 designer papers so I had to split them in halves and it worked out well. The papers constrasted one another really well. I'm slowly reducing my scrap pile. Yay!!

This is the album opened up accordion style. The design is really simple because I didn't want it to be too bulky and over power the pictures because the pictures are small to begin with. Remember the album is only 4x4".

This album is dedicated to my good friend Rita. These pictures were taken in 2003. We had a going away BBQ at my house and the pictures were taken in our backyard. My friend Rita and her family were moving to Tennessee and we had a little get together to wish them off. Rita and I met in college and despite the distance, we still keep in regular contact with one another. We usually talk on the phone or email one another. It was sad to see her move so far away but with real friends, distance don't really matter.

To the left is Rita and her husband. To the right is a picture of Rita's daughter and my dog Dakota kissing her. I really miss our house in Hawaii. We had a lot of good memories there. I especially loved our back yard. It felt really tropical, with a waterfall and all. It was sad when we sold the house when we moved to California. It's a good thing I love our house here in California, otherwise, I would have been REALLY sad.

To the right is a picture of Rita and her daughter and to the left is my cousin and my daughter.
Well, I'm off to San Francisco tomorrow. I'll bring my laptop and camera so I'll post pictures of our vacation. I can't wait. It'll be really fun!!
Hope to see y'all when I return. While I'm away, try out the tutorial and tell me what you think of it!!
