Importance of Watermarking Your Image

I never wanted to watermark my images that I post on to my blogs because in good faith I thought that there was a certain etiquette that you don't take an image, post it on your web site or blog site, and present it as your work.

I have no problems with CASE'ng but to take a picture of my work and represent it as your own is unacceptable. Recreate the card yourself - exactly if you want, take a picture of it, and post it on your blog site and by all means call it your work. You can honestly say you created it yourself.

Imagine a person "grabbing" images all over the Internet and posting them on their blog site and never having to make an actual card. If I were to do that I wouldn't have to put any effort in making cards which will free up my day to do other things and still be able to maintain a blog site with no effort.

I was shocked to see my pictures on someone else's blog site implying by omission that it was their creation. I knew it was my images because I have a particular backdrop to all my pictures which I doubt someone else could duplicate. I happened to follow a post on a group site which led me to this person's blog site and there they were. Incredible!! I read the person's post and there was no reference whatsoever that she did not create the card or that someone else created it.

Now I'm forced to watermark my images which I'm not particularly thrilled about because it is an extra step. Ugghhhh.

Anyway, there's no special technique to this card - basically straight stamping and coloring but I wanted to post the sketch for this card because it's a little different from what I've sketched so far.

Card Detail:

Stamp: Penny Black Cat-titude, Penny Black Get a Dog
Paper: Stampin Up Bordering Blue, Pink Passion, DCWV scrapbook paper
Ink: Pastels, Markers
Accessories: Making Memories ribbons and Colorbok scrap & metal

Try out this sketch challenge.

Hi Maria,
Just thought I would drop you a small note. I sensed in your blog today that you felt a little discouraged. I just want you to know I personally love your work and truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. I especially love your blog because it sticks to the point of stamping and teaching us your faithful learners (smile); and not a bunch of talking just for the sake of saying something. You really have something to say and it shows in your work.
Just my own opinion.
Thanks!!
Desi

(But it would make me angry too) I love your work (obviously) and I hope you contine to share it with us. Chin up...you are original and no one would NOT recognize your work as YOURS!!!

Your card today is awesome and that stamp is hilarious. To look on the bright side of your issue, at least she thought your work was good enough to steal!
