Just Wondering if Anybody Reads by Blog

I'm just wondering if anybody reads my posts or just look at the pictures and sketches. I'm thinking of writing less because if nobody reads it. . .well, what's the point, right? I was thinking of posting just the pictures and card detail and write less commentary. What are your feelings?

Quite frankly when I do look through blogs, many times I don't read the post unless I'm curious as to how the card was made. If the picture is self-explanatory, I don't always read what is written. It's not that I don't find it interesting. . .it's just that sometimes I just don't have the time so many times I'll browse through blogs quickly.

The card above was inspired by a card created in Paper Craft magazine. The card is in the April/May 2007 publication on page 25 designed by Melissa Phillips. Do you subscribe to Paper Craft Magazine? I did but stopped because I've never, ever created a card using any of their samples. What's the point of buying the magazine when I don't do anything with it other than flip through the pages so I decided to start looking through the magazine and actually recreate cards that are highlighted in the magazine.

I rarely CASE cards. . .not that I don't want to but I tend to make cards randomly based on what materials I have sitting in front of me or in close proximity. CASE'ing a card sometimes requires specific materials. For this reason, I would have to dig through my stuff which can take time . . .a lot of my stuff are piled on top of one another and not in a very organized fashion so digging through them can be frustrating. CASE'ing also requires deliberate planning which I am so not about. I'm a very random and spontaneous sort of person and hence, my tendency for disorganization. To create cards with some organization is actually a lot more difficult for me than slapping a card together with no advance planning.

Okay, here is a test. . .if you read my commentary above, please post a comment. This will tell me if anybody actually reads what I write. If I don't receive responses then this sort of indicates that you don't read what I post and that maybe I should write less and focus mainly on posting pictures and the materials used.

Card detail:

Stamp: PSX F-2091

Paper: Colorbok and Provocraft Scrapbook Papers, Stampin Up Orchid Opulance cardstock

Ink: Stampin Up Basic Black

Accessories: Stampin Up buttons, Basic Basic Ribbon

Here is the sketch for the card:

Hope y'all have a great day!!

Until later. . .

I read the messages. I usually don't read card recipes, though, because I don't often case cards.

I love your site! Usually if a card catches my eye I will read the blog. There are so many blogs now that it is almost impossible to read them all. If they have to do with a card I take the time.I really appreciate your talent!

I'm like you. I look at the pictures and if I need more detail I read in more depth. If the post has no pictures I might skim the first paragraph or 2 to see what is about.

There are probably 5-6 blogs I always read because I either know the person personally or the individual is in a situation and I want to know how they are doing.

I am not a big reader which is why I try to make my posts relatively short.

I read every word you write unless I haven't had a chance to blog surf and am way behind. I enjoy what you write. You are an amazing talent.

I do usually read it, but I am not a very good commenter. I read so many blogs but what I need to do is comment, even if it's one line to say I like the post!

I guess it depends how busy I am what I read and also what catches my eye, I was busy today but I still read your blog - I do prefer some writing in with the photo of the card - it helps if people have questions to read what was written. I also appreciate the sketches you include.

I always read your blog as well as the recipes. Sometimes a certain type of paper or cs catches my eye and it's nice to know what it is. That's one of the things I like about your blog is that you write how you did the card and what you used.

I read posts that look interesting. Sometimes people do a lot of inside commentary - talking specifically to certain friends, etc. That's irritating because I don't know them and then I just feel like an outsider. BUT I like reading about people's lives and creative inspiration!

I read the messages because, as a new stamper, I like reading about techniques and products. Just a picture leaves me curious of how the card was made. I also enjoy product reviews by bloggers who use those products.

Well to be perfectly honest. I only read the blog if a card catches my eye.

of course people read your blog...but does it really matter? if you like writing in your blog, i think you should continue to do so regardless!

Hi Maria, I too just read when something catches my eye and/or if I'm just tooo busy playing cath-up, I just "speed read" thru it. I'm not a blogger and suck at it to be honest, so I do appreciate when someone has a lot to say, but like I said, if it's something that catches my eyes, then I read. You have a wonderful talent and truly appreciate your blog as it's your blog and work at HMCWL that keeps me interested in THIS blog in particular. When I grow up...lol...I want to be like you! Hugs!

I read your blog each day...I also read about 25 other blogs too so I am a bit slow on comments. I think you have amazing cards! I don't often read the ingredients because I figure I can probably figure it out. I do like the extra commentary people have...makes me feel like I get to know them.

One thing I have learned about blogging...if you do it for others, it can get you crazy...if you do it for yourself, it is wonderful...so stop fretting about what others "want" and what they "think" and do what YOU want. You will still have followers...like me!

Hi Maria, I read your blog everyday and if a card or other project catches my eye and has a tutorial I read that too. The recipes are helpful and the sketch too. You write in a way that makes the reader feel like a friend and that's why I love your blog. Keep up the good work!

I usually always read your blog and enjoy your comments. Your cards are inspirational and I am glad you give the "recipes" for them. I hope you "keep it up" for a long, long time.

I don't get a chance to read it that often, but I love reading your blog and seeing your cards and seeing your good sketches! Love your color sense, too. Thank you-- Kim in Herndon VA
