Tuesday's Daily Special - Technique Day 1 - Polished Stone

Yesterday's Daily Special that I did not post was "Technique Day" and the technique I chose was "Polished Stone". I love, love this technique. You can create elegant cards using this technique and surprisingly, it's very simple. A total no-brainer.

I posted a few cards I made last night made with the Polished Stone technique.

I'll add the tutorial to the cards shown on this post when I have a chance to do so. In the meantime, click on the
post title to be linked to the SCS tutorial of this particular technique
.

The following cards were created using the Polished Stone technique.

As you can see the background has a marbled appearance. This is the unique result of this technique. The card was enhanced by heat embossing the images with glittered gold embossing powder and the main image was cut out and mounted using dimensionals or foam tape.

The stamp set used for this card was Stampin' Up "Watercolor Garden".

The Polished Stone effect is subtle on this card but you are still able to see the marbled effect. I heat embossed the images using a turquoise embossing powder and colored in the images using Pearl Ex and Future Floor Finish. I believe I did a tutorial on the Pearl Ex technique but used gum Arabic rather than Future Floor Finish. The results are the same. To see the tutorial, check my sidebar under "Categories" and click on "Pearl Ex" to link you to the post with the tutorial.

Unfortunately, you can't see the shimmery effect of the Pearl Ex because of the flash of the camera. I could not get a good photo showing the shimmery effect.

The stamps used for this card was created using Stampin Up "Fresh Flowers" and "Watercolor Garden" stamp sets. The sentiment was from Stampin Up "All I have Seen" stamp set.

This card, similar to the first card, was enhanced by embossing the images with glitter gold embossing powder and the heart was cut out and mounted with foam tape.

The stamps used for this card were from several brands: 1) Hero Arts - Love Heart and Spiral Heart, Hampton Art Stamps - Love is Tulips, and the sentiment by Stampin Up "Small Script" stamp set.

Click on the post title, check out the tutorial, and try out the technique. I will post the tutorial for at least one of the cards I created above on a future post.

Until later. . .

I have NEVER seen such beautiful cards! Your skills are phenomenal. I will be a faithful reader of this blog in the vain hope that a tiny fraction of your creativity and skill will rub off on me. The "always" card with all the embossed hearts has my eyes popping out of my head!!
